A Windy Poppy Field near Sheffield

I haven’t done  landscape photography for a while. Instead I’ve been concentrating on fiddling around with my Xpan doing streetphotography (or trying to!). I’ve also been trying my at hand wet film processing to boot, so going out there and doing landscape has been down my list of priorities – which must be a first in a long time.

So it was with some trepidation that I ventured out after finishing work early to go poppy field hunting near Sheffield on Thursday.  Having borne no fruit asking on Twitter, I turned to Google searches and eventually with the right asking of the question (i.e. search string) I found this field near Staveley.  Spent a pleasant 90mins wandering around the edges.  Its about the first time in a long time that I wished I had colour film in my Xpan.  Instead I had Ilford FP 4 loaded, and I will probably process it this weekend.  Black and White poppy fields – an interesting prospect.

Up the back garden (again), Nether Edge, Sheffield

Spring has definitely sprung in Sheffield.  Today it was rather warm, poking 20 Degrees and full sun.  So after work it was a visit up the back garden to play around with my macro lens and depth of field.

Busy day in the garden today, not to mention the travesty of having dusted off the barbecue to then run out of gas midway through cooking some butterflied lamb.

I still took the time out to get the tripod and macro lens out and photograph some of the flowers up the back garden.  The main point of these photographs is to play around with depth of field.

Having not really been giving my photography enough thought of late, so here I have done a small studio set up on my desk.  Two orange (or peach) gerberas lit from the side using a Speedlite  580 with snoot.  This shot is completely un-adulterated (e.g. no pixels were harmed in the making of this photograph)

Dinner for Six (22/365)

To use up our Tesco Vouchers, we went to Pizza Express for a late lunch/early dinner.  The place was empty, so I couldn’t resist getting the camera out to take a shot of this Gerbera that was lit by a spot light in the ceiling above.  After my rant at myself yesterday I felt I had to take something today, and despite the camera shake, I feel this is quite pleasing.
