51/365 – Imogen, Duck and Chair

Imogen, Duck and Chair (51/365)

Rather scarily, this was posed by Imogen and not suggested by me in anyway.

Daddy Day Care Day today, so the object was to do some nice shots to give to Mum on her return from work.  However, Thing 1 (Alexander) had the attention span of a goldfish today and was not co-operating, where as Thing 2 (Imogen) could have spent all day in front of the camera striking different poses.

The chair in the shot was mine when I was little and I think it was my grandmother’s before that…so its old and is probably being held together by decades of paint rather than anything else.

Apologies for the rubbish back drop – no flat sheets in the Ross Household, so a single fitted sheet masking taped to the wall provided the wrinkly backdrop.

49/365 – Orange Gerberas on Black

Orange Gerberas on Black (49/365)

Having not really been giving my photography enough thought of late, so here I have done a small studio set up on my desk.  Two orange (or peach) gerberas lit from the side using a Speedlite  580 with snoot.  This shot is completely un-adulterated (e.g. no pixels were harmed in the making of this photograph)

15/365 – I’ve got a feeling…

…that tonight’s gonna be a good night.

I've got a feeling… (15/365)

Home studio set up as always, not as sharp as I would like as I had two hyper kids charging in and out of the study so was pressed for time before Mrs R hit the ‘ape’ button.
A shot of Bowmore 15 Year Old, with my favourite cigar.

6/365 – The Usual Suspects (Dotty, Duck, Cow and Bear)

The Usual Suspects (Dotty, Duck, Cow and Bear) (6/365)

The original line up of my daughter’s “friends” – which has been much added to over these short three years – but these guys are the ‘A’ Team in our household – all other friends are second place to these guys.  We lose these ones at our peril.
Home studio set up again, all tethered to the PC.  I did try some film photography too, but you’ll have to wait to see the results of my “analogue” dabblings.

10/365 – Cotton Buds

Cotton Buds (10/365)

I’ve done 10 days of a photo a day!!!
Not feeling great today, so here’s one on the G10, with a mini tripod and an angle poise lamp.  Then I’ve played with the colours in Lightroom afterwards.

11/365 – Smile

MG 3589 Edit 682x1024 11/365 Smile

Smile (11/365)

My wee boy Sascha, doing a proper smile for once instead of doing a “Wallace and Gromit” smile. Might need to do something about the “red space” and crop it…

Not well today, so a quick wander down stairs to see the kids back from nursery and a hand held shot, with an off camera 580 with softbox.

9/365 – Bunny and Bun

Bunny and Bun (9/365)

Stuck for ideas, I asked my 3 year old daughter what I should take a photograph of today. Initial suggestion was her pink wellies. Which we did. But we weren’t happy, as we both agreed there was something lacking.

So, we moved on to taking a loving couple shot of Bunny and Bun. (Just don’t tell my daughter that Bun is really Bun #2!!!!). You might also note a lack of originality in my daughter’s naming of her friends….Bunny, Bun, Cow, Duck, Bear…..

7/365 – Caught between a Rock and a Hard Place

Caught between a Rock and a Hard Place (7/365)

Pulled this one out the hat at the last moment, as I was lacking inspiration today. But it does about sum up my day.

Home studio set up again, all tethered to the PC. This time I used a snoot with a dense honeycomb. This shoot was done and dusted in about 15 mins. I must thank my models for their patience and understanding.

5/365 – Tools of the Trade

Tools of the Trade (5/365)

I work in IT and at times it seems I live on cake and espresso. Whilst consuming cake and coffee with one hand the other has my phone in it – usually applied to my ear. All very necessary and all very EVIL!

Home studio set up again. This was done with a Canon 40D tethered to a desktop PC and an off camera flash with soft box attached.

I was going to call this “Weapon of Choice” for some reason that escapes me now.

4/365 – Kid’s “Treasures” from the Beach

Kid's "Treasures" from the Beach (4/365)

My twin kids always collect “treasures” from the beach when they are there. The treasures also provide a handy prop for dad to play around with using his home studio set up.

This was done with a Canon 40D tethered to a desktop PC and an off camera flash with soft box attached. In this particular shot I was playing around with the depth of field. Cropped to 17 x 6
